Askival Director Tony Draper Retires
October 29, 2026Askival co-founder Tony Draper has retired due to ill health, following a wide-ranging career in local government, affordable housing and regeneration.
Tony founded Askival alongside Mike Nestor and Malcolm Ward in 2016, bringing together their experience to help local authorities and housing associations deliver affordable homes.
His local government career spanned housing strategy, needs and allocations, housing and estates management, repairs and maintenance, resident consultation and engagement, development, regeneration and partnership working.
During 18 years as a consultant, Tony increasingly specialised in land assembly for major regeneration schemes. His work included planning and delivering decant and leasehold buyback programmes, alongside managing compulsory purchase order processes for Tower Hamlets Council, Poplar HARCA and Lambeth Council.
Tony’s handover of his CPO responsibilities to Rachel Trevillion, who joined Askival two years ago, has provided continuity for clients and colleagues.
Askival chief executive Mike Nestor said:
“I have worked with Tony since 2010 through our consultancy work at Poplar HARCA. His breadth of knowledge and considerable expertise have been invaluable, both to the projects we have worked on together and to the development of Askival.
“His understanding of housing and regeneration, particularly the complexities of land assembly and compulsory purchase, has been a significant part of what we offer our clients. We are grateful for everything he has contributed, including his work to ensure a thorough handover to Rachel.
“We are very sorry that ill health has brought about Tony’s retirement. We will stay in close touch, and all of us at Askival send him our warmest wishes.”
