November 3, 2021The Industrial Dwelling Society (IDS) has entered into a contract with main contractor and developer Boshers to build 27 affordable homes in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
Boshers will start work on the town centre site in Glenhaven Avenue at the beginning of 2022 to construct the 100% affordable scheme. There will be a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership tenures providing a mix of one, two and three bedroom homes.
IDS chief executive Suzanne Wolfe said: “We are grateful to everyone involved in getting this scheme into contract. Site viability became a reality thanks to project managers at Askival and architects Pollard Thomas Edwards who helped to deliver an optimised planning consent converting an historic outline permission for 17 units into a detailed consent for 27 new dwellings.
“This will provide IDS with much needed accommodation in an ideal location for the Jewish community.”
Working within IDS’s corporate structure as the development team, Askival supports all elements of residential development from identifying and appraising sites, negotiating land purchases, appointing architects, securing planning, preparing tender information for design and build, reviewing tenders and managing the build process from beginning to end.
Askival director Malcolm Ward, who has been leading this project, said: “We are delighted to have been able to assist IDS with optimising the potential of this site and with bringing it to a stage where much needed affordable housing can be delivered. Alongside this scheme, we look forward to our ongoing work of helping IDS realise its overall housing delivery strategy.”
