Sites which could help the plight of children in temporary accommodation

April 16, 2025

The latest report from the House of Commons on children in temporary accommodation, clearly confirms the severity of living conditions for those that deserve better. While solutions are keenly sort, the crisis continues to spiral with the following statistics:

 – more than 164,000 children live in temporary accommodation (the highest number on record)

– due to overcrowding and substandard conditions, at least 74 children in temporary accommodation have died in the last five years

– families are living in these conditions for long-term periods, rather than short-term

– local authorities spent £2.29 billion on temporary accommodation in 2023-24

– London boroughs spend £4m per day on temporary accommodation

As development managers, we help councils and housing associations deliver more homes.  In terms of solutions to the current temporary accommodation crisis, we have access to suitable sites that are ready for occupation.
