Wishing David a happy retirement
April 10, 2025After many years in the housing sector, planning consultant and Askival associate David Black is retiring from work.
David’s career started in 1978 as a building control officer for Moray District Council in Scotland. Since then, he has worked as a project director, town planner and urban designer for various local authorities and consultancies.
Working with private developers and registered social landlords, much of David’s recent work has focussed on major estate renewal programmes in east London. During this time, he secured planning permissions for more than 5000 new homes and the refurbishment of over 8500 existing homes.
Now he can rest easy having made significant contributions to delivering excellent homes for current and future generations.
However, he’s not one to idle. His plans for retirement include moving to Japan.
“My wife is from Tokyo, and we were married in Japan,” says David. “We will most probably start our life there in a camper van before deciding where to settle. And I will attend a Japanese language course. Also, I have a couple of planning projects to complete between now and say the end of the year.”
We will miss him at Askival and we all wish him a long and happy retirement.
