Teamwork for Masterplan Success

February 2, 2024

Regeneration requires teamwork, and the Greater London Authority’s recent decision to approve the next phase of redevelopment at Aberfeldy Village in Tower Hamlets is all down to skilful collaboration and co-operation.

Askival is very proud to be part of that team, working on behalf of Poplar HARCA as urban regeneration development managers.

As project director for Poplar HARCA, Askival’s Malcolm Ward has been involved with the Aberfeldy Village scheme since 2009.   Working within a joint venture, he has helped deliver 901 mixed tenure homes, a new health centre and other community facilities that are incorporated into phases 1-3 and, over the past 3 years, the formation of the recently approved new masterplan for the next phases.

At the same time, Askival’s Tony Draper has been focussing on issues relating to land assembly and compulsory purchase orders in Aberfeldy Village.

Askival is looking forward to providing ongoing development management services and land assembly support for the next phases of the project, now that it can move towards delivery.

The GLA’s approval of the new masterplan signifies the beginning of a potential 10 to 12 year roll-out of this major scheme which will build upon the success of the earlier phases and bring more, much needed new housing and significant community benefits to a previously neglected part of east London.

Malcolm Ward said:

“Aberfeldy residents are very excited that the regeneration of their estate can now continue and we look forward to continuing to work with them, the wider community, and our client Poplar HARCA in order to deliver their dream.”
