Increase in Social Rent Starts

The number of social rent homes delivered by housing associations in the final three months of last year is the highest recorded number since records began.

The National Housing Federation survey also recorded that building of 1,707 social rent homes were started in the three months leading up to December 2018 which is an increase on the same period for the previous year.

The NHF survey also found that sales of private homes were down, year on year, with a reduction of 21%.

The increase in social rent homes coincides with an increase in grant levels for associations from the GLA and Homes England for this form of tenure.
