Planning advisor Amit joins Askival’s associates’ team

We are delighted to welcome planning advisor Amit Malhotra MRTPI of Opine Projects to our team of associates. 

Amit brings over 20 years of experience in the real estate sector, specialising in planning and development across a wide spectrum of project types. His career spans senior roles on both the client side and within consultancy, giving him a well‑rounded understanding of development risk, viability and navigating complex planning environments.

Askival director Malcolm Ward said: 

“While Amit will continue with his work at Opine, he is an excellent addition to our team.  This is great news for our clients too.  He is replacing our associate David Black who retired recently, so we can continue to offer planning services under the Askival banner, rather than outsourcing the work.

“His extensive experience in the affordable housing arena is particularly relevant for our business sector.”

Throughout his career, Amit has successfully steered a broad portfolio of development projects through the planning system, from small but technically challenging infill sites to large‑scale estate regeneration programmes and comprehensive masterplan developments. His expertise covers the full breadth of real estate asset classes, with particular depth in residential‑led schemes, mixed‑use regeneration, commercial development, community‑focused initiatives and leisure projects.

In his capacity as the planning director at Telford Homes, he worked on projects in several London Boroughs including Tower Hamlets, Newham, Wandsworth, Brent, Ealing, Southwark and Redbridge.  This work also involved meetings with the GLA.  During his time at Telford Homes, he also interacted with a number of housing associations, including Poplar HARCA, East End Homes, Notting Hill Genesis and M&G.

His experience working across different organisational structures enables him to operate effectively at senior levels, providing clear direction, informed judgement and a collaborative approach that supports both project delivery and wider organisational objectives.
