Poplar HARCA receives worthy recognition for its regeneration schemes

July 11, 2022

We are very pleased to hear that our client Poplar HARCA, has won a ‘golden pineapple’ for its Aberfeldy New Masterplan and has been shortlisted for the Best Development Team (Urban) in the Inside Housing Development Awards.

The Pineapple Awards, organised by The Developer, celebrate making places ‘where people thrive with an emphasis on the social and environmental impact of a project’s design and development.’

The community engagement award recognises how the team (Askival, Levitt Bernstein, EcoWorld London, ZCD Architects, LDA Design  and Morris + Company) worked in an exemplary, inventive way with the local community, and how their feedback shaped the masterplan and was directly incorporated into decision making.

The Aberfeldy New Masterplan, which is being developed by EcoWorld London and Poplar HARCA, is a 20-year regeneration scheme in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

As a key part of the development team, headed by Askival director Malcolm Ward, we submitted a new masterplan last year which was driven by extensive stakeholder engagement and co-design, placing young people at the heart of the process, with over 100 pupils from local schools involved.

At the same time, The Inside Housing Awards has recognised Poplar HARCA’s development team for its resident-led, placemaking approach to the housing association’s development and regeneration programmes.  The awards will be announced at a ceremony on September 30.
